After a fishing holiday?
Take a look at this one. Ashby Park is a secluded site containing
no less than 6 fishing lakes with parking at most of the pegs. The
advantage is that, because these are private lakes, there is no
closed season.
You can't rent a caravan for the week but static vans are available
for sale so you can come back year after year or you can bring your
tourer and park it here. There is also ample space for pitching
your tent. The ameneties are simple but sufficient, including toilets,
showers and washing facilities as well as a telephone. |

This 16th century hotel has strong links with Oliver Cromwell,
notably when the building was in it's primary stage in 1643, he
rested at the hotel. Horse fairs were a regular occurrence at
the hotel and were held within the yard and stable area.
Inkeeping with the medievil period, an authentic banquet hall
now hosts a re-enactment of those times with the full treatment.
Their mintrels and serving wenches, all dressed in period costumes,
will serve and entertain you through a four course meal with beer,
mead and wine. Music, singing and audience participation are all
major parts of the ambience of this unique evening.
The Carvery restaurant offers a full range of meals including
A la carte, Table D'Hote, a childrens menu and a vegetarian selection.
All of the rooms are en suite, with a choice of bath or shower.
They also have tea and coffee making facilities and colour televisions.
All the rooms also retain the character of the period, keeping
to the style and prominence of a 16th century coaching inn. For
that extra romance, one of the rooms even has a four poster bed.
